| | 7 | Hit family melodrama about a formerly rich but now impoverished rural family that migrates to the city. The father dies, leaving behind his widow (Anjali Devi), two sons and a daughter. The elder son Suryam (Rammohan) marries the daughter of a corrupt politician. Younger son Vasu (Chandramohan) starts working at a young age to help his mother but retains his idealism and he eventually comes to represent the oppressed classes. The two brothers clash, first ideologically and then physically, during an election in which they fight on opposite sides. The mother tries to intervene and is injured, leading to a family reconciliation. Reddi cast several newcomers, some of whom (Kakarala, Chandramohan, Vanisree) later became stars. Hindi star Rekha debuted in this film as child actress Baby Bhanurekha, acting alongside her mother Pushpavalli. |
