* The All-India Muslim League is formed in Dacca by a group of big landlords including the Aga Khan, the Nawab of Dacca and Nawab Mohsin-uk-Mulk, supporting the Partition of Bengal and calling for separate Muslim electorates and other safeguards for Muslims. 

* Ramananda Chattopadhyay starts The Modern Review in Allahabad, discussing modernism in Indian art. It later published Tagore’s debate with Gandhi about culture.

* J. F. Madan opens the Elphinstone Picture Palace in Calcutta, the first of his cinema chain. Pathé establishes an Indian office.
